Multi-Vehicle Accident Injures 2 and Kills 1 in Mesa

Multi-vehicle accidents can happen anytime on the roads of Arizona. Most of the causes would be speeding, driving under the influence, and many more. It’s a bit rare when one causes accident because of a medical attack. According to a Crash Facts Summary for Arizona in 2009, Mesa alone accounts for 6,543 crashes out of 68,653 or 9.53% with a record of 20 being killed and 2,088 injured.

In recent news, two were injured and one was killed in a six-vehicle crash in Mesa, Monday morning. Police say that the man driving a white pickup truck had a medical episode while on the road of Southern Avenue and 34th Street. The pickup truck sideswiped two other cars, continued further down the street, and hit three other vehicles: a Ford Escape, a Chevy Tahoe, and a Nissan. The left back wheel of the pickup truck was seen to have rolled up on the Ford Escape’s hood. Southern Avenue is closed between 24th Street and Rose, just East of Gilbert Road. The driver was found dead at the scene, unclear yet as to what caused his death, whether from his attack or whether from the injuries sustained during the crash. Two passengers of the Ford and Chevy also sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital.

Pickup trucks involved in accidents totaled 38,674 out of 202,278. This does not necessarily mean that pickup trucks are prone to accidents but most likely it is due to driver errors. People who have weak conditions should refrain from driving.
