One Woman Sentenced in Phoenix Car Crash
As experienced Phoenix auto accident lawyers, we see a lot of car accidents and different injuries. When a person dies because of another one's negligence and the driver at-fault was under the influence of drugs, the driver should be punished. On October 20, 2011, AZFamily reported that a woman has been sentenced to life in prison due to first-degree murder. In 2009, a woman stole an SUV and led the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) on a high-speed chase on Loop 101. In the process, a DPS Cruiser hit a 28-year-old officer who later died of his injuries. Drug recognition experts have determined that the woman was impaired at the time of the incident. Just last month, she was convicted of first-degree murder charges.

In a case like this, although it is difficult to say, it may be that there is a claim against the driver as well as the officers for the high speed chase. Obviously, this is a touchy subject as the officers were just trying to do their job. An experienced Phoenix wrongful death lawyer would look at the length of the chase, how the chase came about, and what precautions were taken to make sure that other innocent people were not injured by the chase. Typically, police chases are not something that is encouraged by the police for just this reason; innocent bystanders can be seriously injured because high speed chases are often very dangerous.
