As Tucson car accident attorneys, we think it is terrible when drunk drivers cause crashes, and especially terrible when those crashes result in injury and death. Our deepest thoughts and condolences go out to the families of both victims, and we wish the woman in the hospital a quick and full recovery. There is no excuse ever for drinking and driving.

Tucson Official Work to Protect Pedestrians with New Crosswalks

Arizona Pedestrian AccidentAt Breyer Law Offices, P.C., we were happy to learn about seven new high intensity activated crosswalk signals to be built this year and next in the city, according to a news report in the Casa Grande Dispatch. After 17 pedestrians were killed in 2011, and a 13-year-old boy this year, the Tucson task force has been created to improve safety by adding these crosswalks. The city will put in a crosswalk where the boy was killed first before beginning on the others.

Unfortunately, that area had been on the list to receive a crosswalk for at least six months before the boy was hit. A crosswalk at the intersection may have saved his life. The crosswalk lights will flash yellow, then turn to solid yellow, then finally turn to red to give pedestrians warnings as they cross.

Tucson Pedestrian Accident Statistics

There were 17 pedestrian deaths from Tucson car accidents in 2011, according to the city. There were more than 1,400 pedestrian accidents in Arizona in 2010, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). These accidents caused 155 deaths and 1,236 injuries. These incidents can result in serious injuries and death, as cars are very heavy objects that are often traveling at high rates of speed. When people are hit by cars, the results can be deadly.

Tucson Car Accident Tips

We want everyone to travel as safely as possible. Look for crosswalks, wait for crossing signals, and then still remain as aware of your surroundings as possible. Look for cars that aren’t stopping and avoid them. Make eye contact with drivers so you know they see you. Wait for everyone to stop before you begin crossing and then cross quickly. If you are a Tucson driver, always watch for pedestrians, even outside of crossing areas. Still, no matter how safe your actions are, accidents still do happen.

Phoenix Wrong-Way Car Accident Results in Injuries

As Phoenix drunk driving victim lawyers, we weren’t surprised to hear that alcohol played a role in a wrong-way car accident on December 22 at 2 a.m., according to a news report in Fox 10. The intoxicated driver was traveling the wrong way on 43rd Avenue between Cactus and Cholla when the car hit another vehicle head-on. Three people were hospitalized for their injuries. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims at this time, and we wish them a speedy recovery.

Causes of This Phoenix Car Accident

As injury lawyers for Phoenix victims of drunk driving accidents, we know that drivers who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol can cause serious and even fatal car accidents. According to police, alcohol played a factor in this head-on Phoenix car accident. The intoxicated driver was apparently unaware that the car was traveling the wrong way down 43rd Avenue. The approaching car was unable to get out of the way in time and was most likely surprised by the fact the other car was traveling the wrong way on the street. There is no excuse for driving drunk.

Phoenix Car Accident Statistics

There were more than 29,000 Phoenix car accidents in 2010, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). There were 1,940 head-on car accidents in the state of Arizona in 2010, resulting in 47 fatal car accidents and 988 that involved injuries. Head-on car accidents can be extremely serious because of the rate of speed both cars are traveling - and in opposite directions.

Do You Have A Phoenix Dram Shop Claim?

Many people do not know about a claim called dram shop. An experienced lawyer could be the difference between no settlement at all and a fair settlement when you are hit by a drunk driver. In this case, where the at-fault driver was driving drunk, it may be that he was coming from an establishment that was serving alcohol. If he had too much to drink at an establishment it may be that the place that served him the liquor may be responsible for the injuries to the victims as well. Holding the bar as well as the individual who drank and then made the decision to drive is something that the Breyer Law Offices, P.C. work hard at every day. Mesa Car Accident: Car Slams Into Home

As Mesa car accident attorneys, we were shocked to hear that a car plowed into a Mesa home Wednesday, December 14, 2011. The car hit the master bedroom, according to Fox 10, which was just one room away from where the homeowner was sitting. Luckily, she was not injured. The worst part of the incident, however, was when the driver backed up and drove away, making this a hit-and-run car accident. Thankfully, a neighbor recorded the license plate number, and police are now looking for the driver.

Causes of This Mesa Car Accident

As Mesa car accident attorneys, we often see car accidents in which drivers hit stationary objects, such as light poles or houses, because they aren’t paying attention. We also see cases in which they are driving drunk. When people drive distracted or drunk, they risk seriously injuring or even killing other people. At the very least, they cause thousands of dollars worth of damage, as this driver did.

Mesa Car Accident Statistics

There were 2,893 people injured in Mesa car accidents in 2010, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). There were more than 6,100 car accidents in all during 2010. Maricopa County faced $1,449,951,518 in economic losses because of car accidents. In Arizona, the average economic cost involving property damage only was $8,364 per car accident. It is unlikely the house damaged in this Mesa car accident can be fixed for that amount of money; it will likely take two or three times more. Finally, there were 11,311 car accidents involving a collision with a fixed object, such as a home, in Arizona in 2010.

How a Mesa Car Accident Attorney Can Help

As Mesa car accident attorneys, we know that fixing this house will cost a lot of money. We work to investigate the car accident to determine exactly how and why it happened. We then hold the at-fault driver responsible for paying the cost of the damages and more. The victims don’t deserve to face the high costs themselves. Gilbert City Officials Work to Improve Streets, Reduce Accidents

The Gilbert auto accident attorneys at The Breyer Law Offices, P.C. applaud the city for amending a code that would have overcharged property owners for street improvements. There is an impending project near Higley and Baseline Roads that would improve the streets, but the city was going to charge homeowners for a broader range of items than is legally feasible. Improving streets is always important. The project on Higley and Baseline proposes to cut down on the bottleneck problem that occurs when there is high traffic in the area. It will widen the roads to three lanes in both directions. This could greatly reduce the risk of rear-end collisions and other crashes in the area.

Gilbert Auto Accident Statistics

Gilbert auto accidents totaled more than 2,300 in 2010, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). There were nine fatal crashes and 617 injury crashes. In Arizona, 5,520 crashes occurred because drivers followed other cars too closely and 5,987 occurred because they made unsafe lane changes. There were also 40,371 rear-end collisions and 12,949 sideswipe crashes. We hope the new improvements to Gilbert roads will help reduce the likelihood of all types of crashes.

College Student Stranded for 10 Days on Arizona Highway 99

As Arizona car accident attorneys, we were surprised to hear about Arizona 99, a highway in Arizona that leads only to a locked gate and has no signs to indicate such, according to AZ Central. Unfortunately, a college student was stranded for 10 days in the snow after following the road, believing that it would lead her to a town. When she got to the gate, there was nowhere else to go.

She tried to open the gate so she could go through, but when she got back to her car, she found out it was stuck. She survived for the 10 days on two candy bars and by melting bottles of snow for water. This is truly an amazing story. Of course, steps need to be taken so this highway can be safe for drivers.

Causes of this Incident

As lawyers who handle highway car accidents, we know that city and state officials have a responsibility over Arizona dangerous roadways. We, as well as many others, question why roads that lead nowhere continue to be part of Arizona’s system. The road is particularly dangerous since it is infrequently traveled. In fact, the 23-year-old college student was very lucky after U.S. Forest Service workers happened to find her when they were checking the gate.

What to Do If You Are Stranded on an Arizona Highway

Here are some tips if you are stranded on an Arizona highway:

  • Always keep your gas tank above the halfway mark.
  • Carry extra snacks, water, and warm blankets.
  • Keep your cell phone charged, but note that it may not always work in certain areas.
  • Stay inside your car; don’t expose yourself to the elements.
  • Place a white piece of material as a flag on your antennae or sticking out your window so passersby know you need help.
