Gilbert City Officials Work to Improve Streets, Reduce Accidents

The Gilbert auto accident attorneys at The Breyer Law Offices, P.C. applaud the city for amending a code that would have overcharged property owners for street improvements. There is an impending project near Higley and Baseline Roads that would improve the streets, but the city was going to charge homeowners for a broader range of items than is legally feasible. Improving streets is always important. The project on Higley and Baseline proposes to cut down on the bottleneck problem that occurs when there is high traffic in the area. It will widen the roads to three lanes in both directions. This could greatly reduce the risk of rear-end collisions and other crashes in the area.

Gilbert Auto Accident Statistics

Gilbert auto accidents totaled more than 2,300 in 2010, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). There were nine fatal crashes and 617 injury crashes. In Arizona, 5,520 crashes occurred because drivers followed other cars too closely and 5,987 occurred because they made unsafe lane changes. There were also 40,371 rear-end collisions and 12,949 sideswipe crashes. We hope the new improvements to Gilbert roads will help reduce the likelihood of all types of crashes.
