Man Critically Injured in Fatal Rollover Accident in Phoenix

When you are an Arizona car accident attorney, you see many cases that are single vehicle car accidents. Many times these accidents result in very serious injuries. ABC15 recently reported a single-vehicle accident on Loop 101. The report indicates that prior to the car accident, a man was driving over 100 miles per hour when he hit the State Route 51 divider. Afterwards, the car was said to have flipped over at least 2 times. After being removed from the vehicle, the man was immediately taken to a hospital and is currently in critical condition. Police say that impairment may have been a factor in the accident.

We are sorry to hear about this incident and hope that the man has a fast recovery.

Phoenix Car Accident Statistics

It is said that rollovers account for 33% of all passenger fatalities, and that SUV’s are usually the vehicles involved in rollover accidents. In Phoenix, the number of fatal car accidents has decreased 13% from 2008 to 2009. 6% of the collisions were said to have involved alcohol. Alcohol is also the cause of 44% of traffic deaths.

What To Know When You Are in a Phoenix Rollover Car Accident

Rollovers are often caused when a person is speeding and then loses control of the vehicle. This is why there are speed limits on any roadway. Rollovers are dangerous accidents and people are often seriously injured. It is recommended to keep the right speed when driving and to avoid sudden turns as with SUVs especially this can cause the car to rollover. If you are in a rollover accident, it is important to decipher what caused the car to rollover. If it is merely driver error, you would not have a personal injury claim unless you were a passenger. If you are a passenger, you may have a claim if the driver was negligent. Many times, another car may be responsible for the accident as well if the rollover car was cut off and the driver had to swerve and take immediate action.

How Can a Top Rated Phoenix Personal Injury Attorney Help You

An experienced Phoenix car accident injury attorney will be able to evaluate why there was a rollover car accident. In this particular situation it appears the driver may have just been speeding. If this driver had a passenger for instance though, the passenger could have a claim for personal injuries. If the driver was actually cut off or someone else hit him and that is what caused him to go into the route divider, then the driver could have a claim against that phantom car. Even if a situation arises where you are cut off and do not know who the driver is who did it, you may still have a personal injury claim to collect on. Each accident is different and merits talking to an experienced personal injury lawyer in Phoenix. Call for a free consultation to talk to the Breyer Law Offices, .P.C. at (602) 457-6222.

3 Hurt in Phoenix Rollover Accident

It is important for a Phoenix rollover accident lawyer to know what factors lead to rollover car accidents. If impairment is the cause of a rollover accident, the at-fault party will likely be prosecuted.

In recent news, three men were injured in a Phoenix rollover accident where Police suspect alcohol is involved. As reported by ABC 15, the crash happened on Interstate 10 near 43rd Avenue when a Jeep carrying two people hit another vehicle from behind. The impact caused the Jeep to rollover.

Both passengers of the Jeep were reportedly not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash; one of them was thrown from the vehicle. Another person inside the second vehicle was hurt in the incident. They were brought to local hospitals for treatment. A spokesman for the Department of Public Safety confirmed one of the victims was in critical condition but is expected to recover. Investigators found beer cans inside the Jeep.

What May Have Caused this Injury Rollover Accident?

Rollover accidents have a high fatality rate and usually involve travelling at excessive speeds. With officers finding beer cans inside the Jeep, it is likely that the driver was impaired, causing him to crash into the other vehicle. Impairment, as most of us know, is a major factor in fatal car accidents in the U.S. Further, driving under the influence may entitle the injured party to a punitive damage claim, which may result in additional money for an injury claim.

Rollover Crash Backs Up Traffic on Loop 101 in Peoria

A rollover is a highly fatal accident which usually involves travelling at a high speed. Though any type of vehicle can possibly end up in a rollover crash, physical attributes of certain vehicles make them more susceptible to rolling over.

According to Safercar.gov, taller and narrower vehicles which “have higher centers of gravity” are more prone to roll over crashes. These include light trucks such as pickups and SUVs.

In recent news, a Peoria auto accident occurred after an SUV lost control and rolled over on the Loop 101 Tuesday (September 13, 2011) according to AZ Central. The single-vehicle crash which happened around 6:30 a.m. backed up traffic for some time until the wreck was cleared and the vehicle was moved off the side of the road.

No one was reportedly hurt in the crash. Police are still looking for factors which may have led to the rollover.

To prevent rollover accidents (or any other types of car accidents), drivers are advised to avoid traveling at excessive speeds which may cause panic steering and loss of control. Also, do not over steer when approaching curves and most importantly, avoid alcohol completely when driving. Make sure to always put safety first when on the road.

Teen Killed, Another Injured in Mesa Rollover

Did you know that motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of deaths among teens in the United States? According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), eight teens from 16- to 19-years-old were killed due to crash-related injuries in 2009. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration also added that there were 3,000 reported teen fatalities and more than 350,000 injured teens that were treat emergency departments on the same year.

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) on the other hand has released the 2010 data for motor vehicle crashes incidents in Arizona. For 2010, total crash fatalities have slightly declined to 762 from 806 fatalities in 2009. There was also a slight decrease in the total reported injuries in 2010 with 50,110 injuries from 50,776.

From the overall reported fatalities and injuries in Arizona, teens ages 15- to 19 -years old accounted for 45 fatalities and 5,652 injuries in 2010.

In Mesa, a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) rolled over near 25th Street and University Drive around 5 am on Saturday (08/27/11). The driver was a 16-year-old teen who was killed in the single-vehicle Mesa crash after being ejected. The paramedics who responded on the scene tried to save the teen but failed. A passenger was seen crawling out of the crashed vehicle. He left the scene on foot but was later found near the area. The passenger who had some minor injuries was an 18-year-old teen.

As per the police investigations, speeding was the cause of the roll over crash. The 16-year-old driver was driving at a high speed eastbound of Covina Street when he lost control of the wheel. It later discovered that the SUV was reported stolen early Saturday.

SUVs and other light vehicles have always been prone to roll over accidents. In most instances, roll over crashes are often caused by collision of two vehicles, cornering speed, tripping, or traversing at critical slope. It is always important to use safety devices while driving a vehicle to prevent severe injuries and lessen the possibility of getting killed in a car crash.

40-Year-Old Man Dies in Loop 101 Rollover Accident

Arizona roadways are no strangers to fatal car accidents. From 2005 to 2009 the state had 5,288 cases of car accident deaths, making up about 3 percent of the country’s total for the same period (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Fatality Analysis Reporting System).

In recent news, a fatal accident has struck Loop 101 near U.S. 60 Friday afternoon after a vehicle rolled over and killed one person and temporarily closed northbound lanes (AZ Central 08/05/2011). Arizona Department of Public Safety officials say the single-vehicle crash happened around 12:30 p.m.

The vehicle carrying seven people lost control and rolled over ejecting five of its passengers, leaving the two victims trapped inside and had to be extricated later on. Initial investigations reveal that a tire failure may have possibly contributed to the crash.

A 40-year-old man died in the accident and the rest of the passengers acquired serious but non-life threatening injuries.

All lanes were reopened after at least two hours.

Rollover accidents usually involve vehicles that travel at a high speed. Such crashes have a high fatality rate and certain vehicles such as SUVs are in theory more susceptible to rollovers than other types. To avoid getting into rollover accidents, always follow speed limits and completely avoid alcohol before driving. Also, avoid factors that may cause distraction while driving such as using your cell phone or listening to loud music.

Casa Grande Rollover Crash Kills 1

Rollovers are recognized as serious accidents. The occupants in the rolled-over vehicle usually suffer serious injuries, or, they die. Studies have found that even if occupants were buckled up, they were still ejected from the vehicle. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), rollover crashes accounted for 33% of all passenger vehicle fatalities; and that figure alone says a lot about rollover fatalities.

One person has been killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash in Casa Grande, causing in the eastbound roadway of the Interstate 10 to close (ABC15 07/16/2011).

A single-vehicle rollover is usually caused by many reasons, one of which could be speed. There are about 40% of fatal rollovers that happen due to excessive speeding. The NHTSA has said that this usually happens in places where the posted speed limit was 55 miles per hour or higher. The type of vehicle used is also a factor in rollovers. Although all types of vehicles are vulnerable to rolling over, the taller, narrower vehicles such as SUV’s, pick-up’s or vans are more susceptible to single-vehicle rollovers because of their higher centre of gravity.

Data from the NHTSA also show that 85% of all rollover fatalities are the result of single-vehicle crashes. This implies that during the accident, there were no other vehicles involved and that the majority of the cause of this type of rollovers is due to the driver’s mistake.

2 Injured in Phoenix Rollover Collision

Did you know that in 2009, there were 8,732 recorded rollover accidents in the United States? This is equivalent to 21.4 percent of the 40,840 vehicles involved in fatal crashes on that year. Light trucks have the highest number of recorded rollovers in 2009, which reached to more that 5,000 vehicles.

Rollover accidents are quite common to SUVs, trucks, and minivans. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), more than 280,000 rollover accidents are reported each year, claiming more than 10,000 lives annually.

Vehicles can rollover due to excessive cornering speed, tripping, collision with another vehicle or object, or traversing a critical slope. Broken bones, severe head injuries, and paralysis are three serious injuries that can be sustained in a rollover accident.

On Friday evening, two people were extremely injured and in critical condition when a rollover drunk driving accident in Phoenix occurred last Friday on 35th Avenue under the Loop 101 underpass around 9 p.m. (7/22/11). Phoenix Police reported that the victims were a 30-year-old female and 35-year-old male. The two were traveling southbound in 35th street when their car collided with a Buick sedan. It was later found out that the driver of the Buick was impaired.

Recently, more and more Americans have become aware of the importance of seat belts. Seat belt use is the most effective way to save lives and reduce injuries in crashes. Unfortunately, the victims of the rollover collision last Friday were not wearing seat belts. This only shows that there are still more adult drivers and passengers who are not wearing seat belts on every trip.

Fatal Rollover Accident Closes Queen Creek Road

Rollover accidents are regarded as very dangerous incidents with high fatality rates, when compared to other types of crashes. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, SUV’s have the highest rollover rate as compared to other vehicle crashes. SUVs are at 32%, pickups are 28%, vans at 17% and passenger cars at 16%. With regards to vehicle occupants, 81% were fatally injured in data from 2009.

Just last week, Queen Creek road was closed for several hours due to a fatal Arizona SUV rollover accident (AZCentral 07/09/2011). Authorities say that the sole occupant of the SUV, a 55-year-old man, died on the scene after losing control of his vehicle near the area where Higley Road bends east and becomes Hunt Highway. Speed was said to be a factor in the accident. About a mile of Hunt Highway and Higley road were closed for hours due to the accident.

All types of vehicles are susceptible to rollovers. However, SUVs are narrower and have a higher center of gravity which makes them prone to single-vehicle crashes. More often than not, fatal rollovers happen when speeding is involved. The United States Department of Transportation say that 40% of fatal rollover crashes involve speeding.

When negotiating turns in Arizona, it is important to lower the speed of the vehicle, especially when driving an SUV as this is usually the cause of fatal rollovers.

Tuscon Rollover Causes Child Injuries

The Centers of Disease Control and Prevention has announced that the leading cause of death for those ages 5 – 34 years old is motor vehicle crashes. Regardless of age, every passenger needs to be buckled in while inside a car.

In Arizona, 2 children and their mother survived a rollover crash in Tuscon (ABC15 06/07/2011). The crash happened on Interstate 10, just northwest of Tucson. The two children were 6 and 7-year-old girls and were not wearing seatbelts when the rollover happened; only the mother was wearing a seatbelt. The 7-year-old was reported to be partially ejected from the rear window. The two children were brought to the hospital via ambulance where they were listed as serious, but in stable condition. Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.

Children should be kept safe at all times while inside a vehicle in Arizona. Ages 5-9 and less than 4 feet 9 inches tall are recommended to be in a car seat or booster seat for the best protection. A vehicle’s seat belt is designed for adults; therefore, a child cannot fit well in it. This is where booster seats come in handy to get the best protection from a seat belt. Booster seats are placed on the vehicle seat and are used to properly position the adult seat belt for a child.

If your child has been injured in a crash in Arizona, you may call us for a free consultation at (480) 389-2463. We are Tuscon child injury lawyers who may be of help to you.

Peoria Rollover Causes Traffic Jam

A rollover is a dangerous type of crash for the driver, passenger and the vehicle too. A lot of rollovers occurred in 2009, according to the NHTSA national statistics, but the number has decreased over the years. In 2009 8,267 rollover incidents occurred. Although the number of rollovers has decreased, the percentage of rollovers taking place has been stable at around 35%.

Recently, a Peoria rollover accident occurred on loop 101 in northbound traffic. A vehicle hit a barricade near the grand avenue exit, which caused the vehicle to rollover. After the accident, the left two lanes were blocked.

Approximately thirty minutes later another accident took place between two vehicles in the same area, but it was a collision, which resulted to minor injuries. The authorities have already stated that all of the accidents were considered minor accidents.

On average 2.83 fatalities occur in every rollover accident. This is a very dangerous incident most commonly occurs among SUV’s and trucks. This is why you should always be careful if you are going to drive a big vehicle. Also, avoid humps along the road because these are the most common cause of rollovers.

If you have encountered such incident, then call our Peoria rollover crash lawyers at (480) 389-2463 so we can advise you through your problem.

Wreck on I-10 Near Casa Grande Kills 1

Rollovers are dangerous. Among other types of crashes, rollovers have higher fatality rates. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, rollovers account for 33% of all deaths from passenger vehicle crashes. More than 10,000 people in a year are killed due to rollover crashes.

In Casa Grande, a person was reported dead in an Arizona rollover crash on the Interstate 10 (ABC15 05/31/2011). The crash happened at about 12:37 pm on eastbound I-10 at milepost 196, near State Route 287. There is still no word about the cause of the accident.

There are many factors as to why a rollover happens. An important factor to rollovers is the type of vehicle that is involved. Usually, taller, narrower vehicles are prone to rollovers, such as SUVs, pickups and vans; since these vehicles have a higher center of gravity and are usually involved in single-vehicle rollovers. Another factor is the speed of the vehicle. 40% of rollover crashes involved excessive speeding. Alcohol is also a factor in rollovers, as it accounts for nearly half of all fatal rollover accidents.

Rural roads are often sites of rollover accidents as they are undivided and without barriers, and usually where the posted speed limit is 55 miles per hour or higher. Also, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has added that routine driving such as negotiating a curve or going straight results in more than 90% of fatal single-vehicle rollover crashes which suggest that driver behavior plays a significant role in rollover crashes.
